Your credit stack tracks the work your rented time is doing — not a bet you can lose outright. Play as many or as few hands as your session allows; your play is recorded either way, and any rare verified emission is credited to you by VDV, not by this machine — entropy itself is a play count with no cash value either way.
Every player antes, gets 5 cards, bets, then may discard up to 3 cards (4 if you keep a lone ace) for new ones before a second round of betting. What you keep and how many you draw is yours to read on everyone else, too — watch how many cards the table draws.
Every so often, a rented miner actually finds a block mid-hand. When it happens at your table, your own draw will show it — a Royal Flush completed in your hand. That's a verified emission event, tracked separately from the chips in play.
Every hand your draw genuinely improves to two-pair-or-better, a face from the table's roster gets uncovered into your collection. Purely for collection fun — characters have no monetary value and are never redeemable for credits or GG.
